The P.L.A.Y. Project^TM 

The P.L.A.Y. Project^TM (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters) is a nationally recognized program that provides in-home training and support for families of children age 14 months to 6 years with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  This intensive intervention model is designed to help parents make meaningful connections with their child through play...connections that bring the child out of isolation and into a place where communication, social skills and relationships can develop. 

Trained P.L.A.Y. Consultants in Billings and Bozeman, MT, Boise and Coeur d'Alene, ID and Salt Lake City, UT work with parents in the home, where their child is most comfortable, teaching them play-based, individualized intervention techniques. Parents learn how to become their child's best P.L.A.Y.mate by incorporating fun and useful interactions into everyday activities their child enjoys.  As parents learn and use the program's methods consistently, most young children with ASD make substantial developmental progress.

Consultants utilize video technology during home visits to help guide parents in applying P.L.A.Y. techniques. In addition, the videos are analyzed and used in completing assessments and monitoring each child's progress.

The P.L.A.Y. Project^TM intervention model is a practical application of the DIR/floortime model of Stanley Greenspan, M.D., a nationally renowned child psychiatrist.  It was developed by Dr. Richard Solomon, a Michigan physician specializing in developmental/behavioral pediatrics, who has been diagnosing and treating children with autism for more than 15 years.
